Asus sabertooth 990fx r2.0 cpu led red8/15/2023 ![]() I don't have any science\engineering to back this up either. The FX 8xxx series doesn't exactly sip power, so if it was drawing too heavily from one rail of the PSU when it should have been using more, it could have overloaded something if the PSU was either old, cheap or defective. The only other thing I can think of would be to try a different power supply. I've never seen anything like this happen with an Intel setup. This is just anecdotal evidence but in recent years I've seen a few strange AMD failures where either the board was capable of killing the CPU due to defects\poor design or the CPU was capable of just plain killing itself from heat. Do you have another cpu to try?Īs weird as it sounds, I wouldn't rule this out. With the cpu led flashing I just have a hunch the cpu itself is damage when you run the system without the 8pin cpu power connector. Things tried reset cmos and remove battrey still nothing same situation. I was suprised it even worked that long but then after plugging it in, it will still not boot, cpu led is flashing and dram led is solid on no idea what to do. Regardless of the CPU fault LED being Lit I am pretty sure now that the Mother board is the problem the Fault the replacement tested FX8350 did not work.So I was leaving for vacation and handed my pc over to a friend during transport the 8 pin cpu power popped out.Īnyways tried starting it without notice ing it out and it dint work for fora few attempts then it finally started once booted windows and was only ised for browsing for a an hour maybe then left idle after which there was a restart and over clocking failure message.Īfter restarting it did not post after fiddling with ram it worked and got into bios and changed settings I guided him to set all defaults and put ram allot default 2400mhz but forgot to tell him to change timing, after restart no post again after which he discovered the 8 pin not there Oo. Both AM3 and transfer everything across pretty cheap but I would like to know what is happening. or maybe the Bios chip is corrupted/failed I can buy a bullet proof Giggabite GA series ot ASUS Sabertooth 990FX. I will leave things as they are for 24 hours see what other suggestion come in I am feeling that the fault could be a capacitor or some other part of the CPU circuit on the Board that is so close to the CPU it indicates as a CPU Fault. it was connected I removed it and tested it it's working. Another strange oddity is that the motherboard is designed to not boot up if the speaker is not connected. I have found numerous occurrences of my problem on youtube but people only appear to be able to confirm what has happened not why. ASUS and AMD have a symbiotic relationship as companies it is why their products work so well together. The power to MB green light comes on and the on/ off button illuminates that is all I get so for some reason the CPU so power is getting to the board. In my case the single beep does not occur the fan on the CPU starts as normal. When I turn on the normal result is a single Beep this is normal for all computers as you know it is the POST ( Power on Self Test) beep. The Board it's self has a Red fault LED that if lit indicates a general Motherboard fault this is not lit. you can also take your CPU and place it a friends system and see if you have the same issue. It does not need to be the same CPU you currently have it can be x2, x3, x4, 圆 or x8 CPU's. this includes some Sempron, all Athlon II, Phenom II and FX series CPU's. The ASUS M5A99X motherboard is self diagnostic so just below and to the right of the CPU is a Red LED that if lit indicates a CPU fault or the section of the board directly associated with it. Any AM3 or AM3 cpu will work in the Sabertooth 990FX motherbaords.
